Overview
A newborn care specialist/registered nurse (RN) is sought for a newborn in Brooklyn Heights, starting ASAP. The schedule will be 7am-7pm, Monday through Friday, for an initial period of 12 weeks, with the option to extend. Both parents work and mom often does so from home, but candidates will essentially be sole charge and should be comfortable working autonomously. There is an older child (who is 3-years-old) but she has her own nanny and will not be the responsibility of the candidate. A night nurse is already employed and will work nights for at least the duration for the candidate’s term. The baby has Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC) and only certified/licensed RNs are eligible to apply.
Responsibilities
- Being comfortable working with a newborn with a medical condition (i.e. being comfortable observing him and making relevant minor adjustments to his schedule to accommodate his specific needs)
- Brain stimulation is particularly important for the baby, so a solid understanding of relevant activities is desired
- Prioritizing the safety and well-being of the baby at all times
- Implementing an effective daytime feeding/sleep routine
Qualifications
- Familiarity taking care of a newborn with a medical condition
- Healthcare background and RN certification/license
- Must have at least 5-8 years' verifiable experience working as a newborn care specialist/RN
- Candidates must be positively responsive to feedback or minor requests/direction from the parents - e.g. if they have certain requests in terms of how they want things done
- Candidates must be a joy to be around, with an upbeat personality
Requirements
- Those candidates who are receptive to input from the parents will thrive best in this role - they do not want to feel like they are imposing if they ask for certain things or want to provide an opinion on anything
- There is a family dog (20lbs) so candidates should be pet-friendly
- US passport, Green Card or EAC
- Able to commit to 3x months (12 weeks) to start, with the potential to extend
- COVID vaccinated, and up to date on Flu/RSV/Tdap and MMR vaccinations
- Available to start ASAP
