About
My name is Lamiah, and I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher with a strong background in primary education, early years, and special educational needs (SEN). I am now seeking to transition into the role of Governess, where I can bring my passion for child development, education, and individualised learning into a more tailored, home-based setting.
Over the past 9 I have worked across a range of educational environments, including mainstream primary schools, early years settings, and specialised SEN classrooms. I have a deep understanding of children’s developmental needs—both academic and emotional—and pride myself on creating nurturing, engaging learning experiences that help each child reach their full potential.
Professional Experience:

• Plan and implement differentiated, engaging activities that meet the diverse needs of all children, including those with special educational needs (SEN) such as Down syndrome, Williams syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and ADHD.
• • Utilize the outdoor classroom to extend learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and connection with nature.
• • Incorporate sensory play activities to support the development of motor skills, language acquisition, and scientific thinking, while integrating music, movement, and art to foster gross and fine motor coordination, creative expression, and self-regulation.

• • Apply a strong understanding of various teaching approaches to adapt the Norwegian Curriculum according to standard expectations and individual learning needs.
• • Use effective ESL strategies to support children who are learning English, ensuring inclusion and engagement in all activities.
Primary School Teacher:
Earned high praise for the quality and creativity of classroom instruction, lesson planning, and the development of engaging teaching materials across a variety of subjects, including Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities.
• Consistently commended for effectively managing classroom behaviour, redirecting students with behavioural challenges by implementing positive reinforcement strategies and encouraging productive learning habits.
• Established and maintained strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership, fostering a collaborative and supportive school environment.
• Acquired in-depth knowledge of various teaching methodologies and successfully customised the UK National Curriculum to align with both academic standards and the individual learning needs of students.
• Implemented ESL strategies to effectively support English language learners within the mainstream classroom, promoting language development and inclusion.
SEN Teacher:
• Designed Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and implemented modified curricula tailored to each student’s specific learning needs and goals.
• Attended and participated in multiple professional development workshops focused on supporting children with Special Needs, including Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Spastic Paraplegia.
• Developed personalized emotional and behavioural intervention plans to support students' well-being and encourage positive classroom behaviour.
• Collaborated closely with parents, as well as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and ABA Therapists, to monitor and support student progress through a multidisciplinary approach.
• Created engaging, hands-on activities and strategies aligned with the US Common Core Curriculum to teach Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills, Food Prep, Social Skills, hygiene routines, and music and movement.
Key Skills:
• Expertise in child development and age-appropriate learning
• Differentiated instruction and personalised learning
• Experience with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
• Warm, professional, and calm presence in the home environment
• Ability to plan structured yet flexible daily routines
• Strong communication with parents and multidisciplinary teams
Why I’m Transitioning to a Governess Role:
I am drawn to the Governess role because it allows for deeper, more individualised teaching, and the opportunity to support a child’s academic and personal development in a holistic way. My background in both mainstream and specialist education makes me adaptable, empathetic, and highly responsive to different learning styles and personalities.
