I had fourteen & half years of caring for young children. January 2006 till March 2020 I was a
Part Time ParaEducator at a preschool.Responsible for settling children after morning drop off. Taught early developmental skills: Reading/Writing/Conflict Solving/ identifying shapes colors & numbers. Supervised in dramatic play area & during first & second choice time. Monitored classroom every day & reported behavioral concerns/incidents to the Group Teacher. Supported with classroom tasks included: Setting tables for first & second choice time: Preparing materials for art activities: preparing snack & lunches: taken daily attendance & prepared children who stayed extended day. During summer nineteen ninety eight & nineteen ninety nine I did part time sitting at a private community. Often home based sitting & occasionally at a community pool & playground. Activities included swimming: art activities: watching movies: read books: or building with blocks. I am pursuing a part time position in being a sitter again. After several years of Early Child Experience I mastered a lot of skills. I began to understand development & how children learn differently . Struggled occasionally when a conflict began .With advice from a supervisor /boss I learned how to handle without anxiety. Being able to understand how a child can sense emotion through a grown up was a huge improvement. I realized raising your voice is a negative impact & approaching with a low tone prevents anger frustration. I will admit my years of experience were worth the effort.
