Overview
A lovely mature couple in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a full-time housekeeper for their home. The general work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Their previous housekeeper worked 10am-6pm but there is flexibility in the exact schedule. This is a semi-formal household with high-end furnishings, art, and antiques. Both principals are very busy and truly value someone proactive who will not need a lot of direction.
Responsibilities
- All housekeeping for a 8000 sq ft home, including deep cleaning and daily tidying. The principals primarily use two of the three floors. The second floor is typically used only when grandchildren visit.
- Laundry, including hand washing delicates and fine items, and ironing
- Local errands, such as dropping off dry-cleaning, sending packages, or picking up prescriptions
- Grocery shopping as needed
- Simple meal prep/cooking such breakfast or lunch
- Cleaning antiques and polishing silver as needed
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is smart, detail-oriented, and discreet, with a flexible and proactive personality
- Someone who will anticipate their needs, for example putting out breakfast before the principal begins work
Requirements
- Extremely detail-oriented, meticulous, and professional
- Dog-friendly (the family has several dogs so the housekeeper must be comfortable interacting with them though care would be minimal- filling water bowl and letting them out in the yard. There is another staff member who does walking and vet trips)
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a housekeeper in private homes
- Driver's license and clean driving record
- Legal to work in the US
Salary and Benefits
$40+ per hour plus standard benefits
They are open to relocation candidates and can offer temporary housing to someone relocating. The position can eventually become fully live-in after another family members moved out at the end of the year. At that point the housekeeper would have a private bedroom and bathroom on separate floor of the home.
