Overview and Opportunity
A highly prestigious private estate in the South of France seeks an experienced and polished Butler to join their long-standing household team. The residence belongs to a discreet UHNW family who divide their time between international homes. The property is beautifully maintained and frequently hosts guests and formal gatherings.
This is a hands-on and service-oriented position, requiring a professional with strong presentation, silver service experience, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both principals and guests. The successful candidate will be adaptable, calm under pressure, and capable of providing exceptional service standards with genuine warmth and discretion.
Job Description
The Butler will work as part of a professional household team including a House Manager, Chef, and Housekeepers. The role involves providing seamless service to the principals and their guests, managing daily household operations, and ensuring every detail of service and presentation is executed to the highest standard.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide formal and informal service to principals and guests, including silver service and table settings
- Oversee and deliver event and meal service, liaising closely with the Chef and House Manager
- Greet and host guests with professionalism, warmth, and discretion
- Organise travel requirements including luggage packing/unpacking, and coordination of food or supplies for trips
- Manage wardrobe care, garment preparation, and daily presentation of attire
- Run errands, handle shopping, and make restaurant or service reservations
- Provide chauffeur duties when required – confident handling of high-performance vehicles
- Assist with household logistics, setup for entertaining, and general smooth running of operations
- Travel occasionally with the principals as required
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a formal private household, luxury residence, or yacht environment
- Demonstrated expertise in silver service and formal dining protocol
- Strong interpersonal skills, with confidence when hosting and the ability to blend into the background when required
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Fluent English essential; French language skills advantageous
- Discreet, trustworthy, and composed under pressure
- Full, clean driving licence; confident with luxury and high-performance vehicles
- Right to work in the EU or ability to obtain relevant work authorisation
