Overview
A British family spending seven to eight weeks in New York City is seeking a warm and experienced Private Primary Teacher for their two daughters, aged seven and nine, who are entering Years 3 and 5 at school in the UK. The aim is to keep both children broadly aligned with the English National Curriculum and ready to return to school without a learning gap.
The children will participate in enrichment activities throughout the day, so the ideal teacher will be available early each morning to begin their day with focused academic lessons. The ideal time would be 8 am. The family does not have overly intensive academic expectations and is looking for someone warm, encouraging and adaptable rather than rigid or overly formal.

Responsibilities
Teach English and Maths at primary level.
Incorporate Science and other core subjects where appropriate.
Plan engaging lessons suited to each child’s ability and learning style.
Build confidence and provide regular progress updates to the parents.
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Degree in Education or a related subject.
Primary classroom or private teaching experience.
Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and British education system is preferred but not essential.
Strong references and an up-to-date background check.
Requirements
Experience teaching primary-aged children at the equivalent of Years 3 and 5.
Warm, patient and flexible teaching approach.
Comfortable working independently and planning lessons.
Available in person on the Upper West Side for the required dates.
Able to commit to early-morning lessons, ideally beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Salary and Benefits
Starting at $80 per hour, depending on experience.
Flexibility between a four- and five-day teaching week.
Possible remote lessons if the family travels.
