Overview
A wonderful Chelsea-based family seeks a brilliant live-out ROTA nanny. The rotational set-up will be 2 weeks on/off, with a daily schedule of 8.30am-8pm. While the position is mainly live-out, the parents do travel regularly for work, at which point the position will become 24/hr live-in. There will likely also be some international travel required of the nanny.
The successful candidate will join a staffed household and contribute to the outstanding care and development of a 5yr old boy and, occasionally, his younger sister. Candidates should have experience caring for children with additional needs, who may need support with transitions and self-regulation, and who appreciate consistency and structure.
Responsibilities
- Work effectively as part of a household to support the children, ensuring their continued well-being and development
- Prepare simple meals and snacks when required
- Support transitions and self-regulation using positive reinforcement and gentle, consistent boundaries
- Research local activities, classes, outings and sports for the children, developing their interests, building on their curiosity, and encouraging their imagination and creativity
- School runs (no driving required)
- Use appropriate and calming language that helps with big emotions
- Provide structure and consistency around familiar routines, and be creative in how travel and periods away from usual daily routines are handled
- Encourage age-appropriate independence, responsibility and positive habits
- Accompany the family on some international trips
- Potentially assist with some family assistant-style duties (eg.occasional errands, children's logistics, liasing with schools etc)
- Working with the team to build on successes and to learn from behaviours
Requirements
- A consistently kind, gentle and empathetic approach, while also confident setting clear and consistent boundaries
- Innate ability to read the room, with an understanding of when to be 'present' and when to step back
- A calm, easy-going personality, with an ability to adjust, pivot and be flexible around the family's needs and preferences
- Honesty and integrity, and a willingness to learn
- Professional (or possibly personal) experience supporting children with autism
- Experience working with school-aged children (and younger siblings), supporting their daily routines and activities
- Calm and patient personality, with a nurturing, positive and pitch-in approach
- A confident swimmer
- Reliable, punctual, professional and discreet
- Excellent communicator
