Overview
A busy West Village family is seeking an energetic and proactive part-time housekeeper on a temporary basis (with potential to stay on long-term if both sides agree) to help organize and clean their home starting ASAP. The role is eight hours per day, 2-3 days per week, ideally 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm though the client is flexible. The ideal candidate is diligent, detail-oriented, and hard working and can take responsibility for getting the house in shape after the holidays and in shape for a smooth new year. The ideal candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to pitch in where the family needs. There will be an additional housekeeper to help.
Responsibilities
- Deep cleaning and organizing the home (including the closets and basement storage) to maintain a clean and neat environment
- The candidate must also have excellent laundry skills and will help with laundry and ironing
- Handling all packages that arrive, including opening packages and sorting items and coordinating returns/exchanges
- Hand washing dishes, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and keeping the kitchen tidy
- Candidate should be comfortable with tasks such as caring for delicate items
Qualifications
- Have an energetic can-do personality
- Team player happy to work around others in the home
- No job too small mentality
- Proactive and self-starter, ready to get to work upon arriving and able to work independently
Requirements
- The family has young children and pets (both dog and cat) and so the candidate must be pet and child friendly
- The home is a townhouse with five floors and so the candidate must also be comfortable going up and down flights of stairs throughout the day; there is no elevator
- The candidate must have strong spoken and written English fluency and must be comfortable communicating via text message daily with the family and the family’s part-time family assistant, who will coordinate with the housekeeper on many of the tasks
Salary and Benefits
$40-55 per hour
