Overview
A mature, active principal in his mid-nineties is seeking a live-in companion who can keep up with him! He walks/hikes up to 6 miles daily, reads voraciously, is comfortable with new technology, and can converse intelligently on various subjects. The principal is active in a charity he supports research for and travels frequently. The primary residence would be in the Princeton, NJ, area, with travel to CA to visit family. The position is full-time, year-round schedule working Monday through Friday, usually 8am-6pm. There needs to be flexibility for extended days/hours in the schedule when the principal goes into the city for dinners/cultural events. There may be occasions when seven-day coverage is necessary, but this should be infrequent. The companion may have extensive periods where they are on call but not working (still paid). This is a live-in role (Open to local non-live-in candidates.)
Responsibilities
- Provide daily support to the principal
- Companionship when the family is unable to interact socially.
- This position is NOT to be considered a home health care aid at this time. It is daily social and travel companionship
- The principal will be fully responsible for directing the companion about his needs in all situations.
- Must be comfortable with:
- Hiking
- Preparing simple meals
- Driving
- Traveling
TRAVEL:
The principal lives in New Jersey but travels and spends extended time in California. The companion should be comfortable traveling and should accommodate this. While in CA, arrangements would be made to fly the companion back to the East Coast, perhaps with a two-week on/off schedule. Both in NJ and CA, there would be a separate bedroom and private living space.
Requirements
- Legal to work in the US
- Passport ready and able to travel
- Valid and clean driver's license
- Fully Vaccinated
- Meal prep/cooking simple meals
- Well educated.
- Discreet
- Enjoy hiking and walking. (Prefer a nature enthusiast.)
- Enjoying cultural activities such as opera, museums, and movies is a plus!
- Enjoys games such as Backgammon or Cribbage, is a plus!
- High emotional intelligence
- Adaptable and comfortable in a variety of social settings
Salary and Benefits
