Overview
A busy family in Berkeley, CA are looking for a great nanny/family assistant to help them with their 4-year-old and 5-year-old daughters starting ASAP. The family is open to guaranteeing anywhere from 25-35 hours per week, depending on the candidate's preference. The ideal schedule is Monday through Friday, 12pm-6:30pm, with the flexibility for occasional date nights and additional hours. They are looking for a candidate who can be a consistent, trustworthy, and engaging nanny to their daughters and help manage the household day-to-day. This is a live-out position, the family is currently only considering local candidates.
Responsibilities
- Manage children's laundry: sorting, washing, folding, and putting clothes away correctly
- Open to occasional family laundry when needed
- Manage children's wardrobe, purchasing additional items as needed
- Drive to pick up children from school (vehicle is required)
- Pick up children from school and take them to activities
- Plan fun, engaging, and age-appropriate afternoon activities
- Maintain structure and implement household routines
- Maintain discipline and ensure household rules are followed
- Handle dishes properly (understanding what goes in the dishwasher vs. hand-washing)
- Light child-related household chores and tidying
- Basic meal prep and organization (does not need to be a serious chef, but must be comfortable making simple, healthy meals for kids)
- Grocery shopping and running household errands (e.g., returning packages, buying birthday presents, dropping off dry cleaning)
Requirements
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record with own vehicle
- High energy and experience working with young children
- Experience with 4-7 year old siblings is a plus
- Good English communication skills are required; Spanish is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in a busy household, communication is often via email and text)
- Tech savvy and able to use Apple/Google shared calendars and other household management apps is a plus
- Detail-oriented, especially with laundry and tidying (sorting clothes correctly, putting things in the right places, implementing and following household systems)
- Open to occasional travel with the family (Bay Area surroundings)
- Strong references and prior experience in a similar role
- Ability to swim and be confident in the water with children
- Valid passport
- Legal to work in the US
