Overview
A lovely family of three is seeking a fantastic part-time chef to work two days per week at their home in Tribeca. The desired schedule for this role is Monday and Wednesday or Monday and Thursday. The family expects this role will take approximately 8-10 hours per week, including shopping and cooking dinner in the family kitchen. No service is required as part of this role. The family enjoys Mediterranean-style cooking, mainly dairy free, light and healthy, incorporating a variety of cuisines and flavors. The family travels for two months in the summer and the month of December, and they do not require the chef's services during this time- this is NOT paid time off, and the chef must be comfortable with this arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Prepare dinner in the family's kitchen at each visit, with leftovers packed away in the fridge for later in the week
- Prepare most meals without dairy (this is a preference not an allergy, but candidates should feel very comfortable with a light dairy-free style)
- Shop for the freshest ingredients available- organic and no added hormones
- Menu plan with input and collaboration from the principals
- Maintain organization and leave the kitchen clean and tidy
Qualifications
- Creative and innovative
- Able to incorporate a variety of cuisines and flavors in a healthy way
- Organized and able to manage time to accomplish necessary tasks
- Familiar with planning meals in a way that allows for quality when reheating several days later
Requirements
- Great longevity with clients and stellar references
- Familiar with Mediterranean style preparation- light and healthy, with limited red meats
- Understand and are comfortable with the September-June contract
Salary and Benefits
- $60/hr.+ depending on experience, day rate based on average number of expected hours
