Overview
A warm, respectful and busy Manhattan-based family seeks a fantastic rotational Spanish-speaking nanny to care for two children. The schedule is likely to be 2 weeks on/off, however flexibility around this would be appreciated, particularly when the family travel. The nanny will live-in while on duty, and live-out when off duty, and the family will not consider fly in/out candidates.
Responsibilities
The nanny will be responsible for the care of two children. Duties will include:
- Organizing and participating in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive and social development
- Creating a joyful, loving environment where the children feel safe, stimulated and supported
- Collaborating with, working alongside, and constantly staying in touch with Mom, who is actively involved and present in the children's upbringing
- Regular communication with the parents
- Keeping track of the children's day-to-day activities, milestones and progress
- Staying up-to-date with the latest research and practices in child development to provide the best possible care for the children
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organized environment for the children to play and learn in
- Light housekeeping during the mornings when the children are at school, to support the full-time housekeeper
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required, however the following experience and characteristics would be appreciated:
- Childcare responsibilities that have included implementing gentle boundaries and involve a respectful approach
- Working as part of a domestic team in a private home
Requirements
Candidates will need to be flexible and happy to work as part of a team to support Mum and the family wherever needed. Candidates should be:
- Native Spanish-speakers (the family speak Spanish within the home)
- Competent speaking English
- A caring and nurturing personality, and a love for children
- Confident drivers
- Confident cooks, happy to prepare fresh and healthy food for the children
- Hard working and dedicated
- Fit and active, able to manage a large home that includes multiple staircases and, of course, able to keep up with active and energetic children
- Fantastic team players, with a pitch-in mentality and a positive outlook
- Candidates must be comfortable working within a structured, relatively formal environment and should be open to direction, feedback and with working under the guidance of the parents
- Adaptable and flexible, and able to step up during busier periods
- Open to regular domestic travel to other homes within the US, and internationally
