Overview and Opportunity:
Achieve Hospitality are partnering with a stylish restaurant in York that focuses on seasonal British produce, especially wood-grilled meats and fresh seafood. Set in a Georgian building, it’s known for aged steaks, oysters, quality Sunday roasts, and a relaxed but polished atmosphere, making it popular for both special occasions and casual dining.
They are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their team.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring high standards at all times
- Take responsibility for sections during service, maintaining pace and quality
- Assist with menu development using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are consistently met
- Manage stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Step in to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef in a quality restaurant
- Confident working with fresh produce, particularly meat and seafood
- Calm, organised, and professional under pressure
- A natural leader who enjoys training and developing others
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
- Passion for British produce and seasonal cooking
