We are looking for a House Manager & Housekeeping couple of a beautiful private country estate near Newbury, with a salary on offer of £85,000 per year.
Job Description
The estate comprises an eight-bedroom country residence set within 200 acres of landscaped grounds and operates with an established and supportive household team. The successful couple will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the property while maintaining exceptional standards throughout.
This long-term position would suit candidates who enjoy rural living and take pride in maintaining a high standard of service within a private household environment.
Role Responsibilities
House Manager
- Oversee the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the estate.
- Manage household security systems, including CCTV, fire and intruder alarms, external lighting and property security during owner absences.
- Carry out traditional household management duties, including wine cellar management, silver care and clock winding.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks when required, including maintaining stone flooring.
- Manage and maintain a fleet of five vehicles and estate equipment, arranging servicing and upkeep as necessary.
- Provide occasional chauffeur services and run household errands.
- Coordinate maintenance contractors and oversee servicing of boilers, heating and water filtration systems.
- Care for the family dogs, including walking, feeding and arranging veterinary appointments.
Housekeeper
- Maintain the property to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and presentation.
- Undertake all housekeeping duties across the residence.
- Manage laundry, ironing and wardrobe care.
- Assist with the preparation of simple home-cooked meals alongside the existing housekeeper.
- Ensure household supplies are monitored and replenished as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working within a private household, estate or similar high-standard environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Practical, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of an established household team.
- Trustworthy, discreet and professional with a proactive attitude.
- Confident around dogs and genuinely enjoys animal care.
- Full driving licence is essential; advanced driving qualifications would be advantageous.
