We are seeking an Executive Housekeeper for the historic estate of a high-profile family in the Washington, DC area. The role demands exceptional communication skills, professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, discretion, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Primary Housekeeping Duties Maintain an exceptionally well-appointed historic estate consisting of three structures on 13 immaculately curated acres. The Executive Housekeeper will be primarily responsible for all laundry, steaming, ironing, and cleaning of the four-level main house, gate house, and pool house. Specific duties include:
- Collecting laundry from hampers daily. Sort, wash (machine or hand as appropriate), spot treat, and steam clean items following manufacturer guidelines. Fold, hang, iron, or steam all laundry and return items to their proper locations.
- Making beds daily and changing linens as needed. All bed linens must be ironed before use.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, and cleaning baseboards.
- Dusting all furniture, moldings, and light fixtures.
- Meticulous cleaning and disinfecting of all bathrooms and powder rooms.
- Maintaining exceptional cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing pots, pans, and dishes; loading/unloading the dishwasher; cleaning the refrigerator and countertops.
- Detailed cleaning of windows and removing fingerprints from walls and windows.
- Caring for interior plant arrangements and veranda plants (designed by professional florist).
- Polishing the family’s extensive collection of silver items.
- Performing other general housekeeping duties as instructed by the homeowner.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain an up-to-date list of cleaning and household supplies needing replacement; regularly review with the homeowner.
- Promptly notify the Estate Manager of any wear and tear, damage, or maintenance issues (e.g., light bulbs, leaks, windows that do not seal, cracks in walls/floors, etc.).
Schedule: Monday – Friday Reports to: Estate Manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Exceptionally talented career Executive Housekeeper with 10+ years of experience caring for fine furnishings and high-end interiors, with guidance from homeowners.
- Extremely proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong desire to be part of a best-in-class team.
- Professional, highly motivated, polite, and kind demeanor.
- Superior judgment and discretion, especially with confidential materials.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and anticipate the family’s needs.
- Proven ability to multi-task while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
- Flexibility and availability to support family needs, including occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a comprehensive background check.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time position. The employee is entitled to employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) with company match after 3 full months of employment.
Pay rate is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
