Overview
A friendly and welcoming Bel-Air family seeks a wonderful live-out nanny for a lively 2-year-old boy. The usual schedule will be Monday through Friday, 1-8 pm, although the parents would appreciate some flexibility to allow for changes to the hours, occasional later evenings and/or overnights. Ideally the nanny will also be able to offer Saturday help, with hours to be discussed depending on availability. The position will start as soon as the right person is found.
Responsibilities
The little boy will be starting nursery shortly, likely attending full-days (although this is still to be confirmed). Responsibilities will therefore include:
- Planning and engaging in age-appropriate activities, both within the home environment and externally
- Researching and suggesting outings, classes, activities in the local area that will support emotional, physical and intellectual development
- Preparing healthy and balanced meals and snacks as needed, including cleaning up afterward
- Encouraging independence (hand washing, tidying) and supporting transitions
- Nursery pick-up, likely around 3pm or 4pm daily
- Supporting age-appropriate social development, organising playdates, park visits, and healthy interactions
- Communicating daily highlights and observations with parents
Providing attentive, nurturing care in a sole charge and shared care capacity
Supporting toddler routines, development, and milestones
Assisting with light household duties, including child’s laundry, tidying, and organisation of nursery and play areas
- Supporting language development through reading, songs, and conversation
Travelling with the family as required, to locations such as France, Hawaii, Cabo, likely for a week or so at a time
- Proxy parenting when required (possibly once a month for a night or two, although this hasn't happened for a few years!)
Maintaining a calm, structured, and happy environment within the home
- Some care for older and fairly independent children when required (aged 13yrs and 16yrs) - welcoming their friends, or parents of their friends, engaging with their tutors, general support and interest in their lives, and some driving responsibilities
- House management duties - you will have a few hours each day before collecting the little boy from nursery, so this time can be used for scheduling repairs, booking appointments (eg dog groomer), receiving deliveries and dealing with any returns, some errands, dealing with contractors and vendors etc
