We are looking for an experienced Housekeeper/Cook for an UHNW Principal for their Barcelona residence, with a salary on offer of €45,000-€55,000 per year, DOE.
Job description
This is a full-time, permanent position supporting the Principal at their private residence. The successful candidate will combine high-level housekeeping with healthy, fresh home cooking, taking responsibility for the day-to-day presentation of the residence while preparing meals for the Principal and occasional guests.
The role would suit an experienced private household professional who is naturally hands-on, organised and discreet, and who enjoys taking ownership of a home rather than working within a highly formal or heavily staffed environment.
The Principal spends significant periods away from Barcelona, so flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing schedules are important.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain the residence to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
- Take full ownership of day-to-day housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
- Prepare fresh, healthy and seasonal meals for the Principal, primarily cooking for one person with occasional guests
- Develop simple but varied menus with a strong emphasis on healthy Mediterranean-style cuisine
- Adapt meals to the Principal’s preferences and dietary requirements
- Assist with occasional entertaining and dinner parties when required
- Manage household groceries, provisioning and kitchen supplies
- Build relationships with local suppliers and markets
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and maintained to a professional standard
- Monitor household stock and replenish supplies as required
- Assist with general household errands and day-to-day organisation
- Liaise with external suppliers and contractors when required
- Ensure the property is prepared for the Principal’s arrival following periods away
- Maintain a high level of discretion and privacy at all times
- Be willing to assist across the household wherever required
- A staff car is available at the residence for shopping and other work-related errands.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Housekeeper/Cook, Private Housekeeper, Housekeeper/Chef or similar
- Strong private household or luxury hospitality experience
- Excellent housekeeping standards with strong attention to detail
- Confident preparing healthy, fresh and Mediterranean-style cuisine
- Comfortable cooking regularly for a single Principal while keeping menus varied
- Experience with private entertaining would be advantageous
- Highly organised and able to manage the household independently
- Practical, hands-on and willing to get involved wherever required
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of the privacy of a UHNW household
- Warm, personable and professional
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities
- Flexible and adaptable to the Principal’s changing schedule
- Fluent English and Spanish required
- A third language would be strongly preferred
