Live-in gardener/handyman required for a Hampshire family home
Caring for the gardens, property and cars of a family home in Hampshire with 12 acres including 2 acres of formal garden with lawns, mature flower beds, a wild flower meadow, a kitchen garden and several outbuildings including an indoor pool complex.
The main focus of the role is gardening to include planting and day-today maintenance of flowerbeds, shrubs, lawns and hedges, kitchen garden and cutting garden and general garden maintenance including care for machinery and equipment.
In addition the role requires:
- Security of the house and grounds
- Pool and spa cleaning and maintenance
- Some household maintenance tasks e.g. change lightbulbs/fuses, put out recycling/bins etc Some driving (car provided during working hours) e.g. airport and train station runs and errands
- Car cleaning
- General household errands e.g. local shopping
- Pet care including Monday-Friday daily feeding of two pet Kune Kune pet pigs
- Fireplace cleaning and laying of fire, collecting logs
- Assist with heavy items eg luggage, deliveries etc
- Organise and oversee contractors from time to time
Must have knowledge of working with plants and lawns and be able to work successfully in partnership with the housekeeper (who also lives on site) and a garden designer from time to time. Adaptable with good communication skills and able to work without direct oversight in a family home setting.
The family is not always in residence and honesty and trust are critical.
Working hours 30-40 hours Monday-Friday with an opportunity for some flexibility.
Comes with a semi-detached cottage in the grounds with three bedrooms and two reception rooms, a large garden and off-street parking and all utility bills paid.
