Overview:
A reliable, family-friendly Housekeeper is sought by a truly lovely employer with a relaxed and warm approach.
The role suits someone practical, organised, and trustworthy, with strong housekeeping skills. The household consists of two adults, who are mainly in residence at weekends, and three older children who visit on occasion.
The position requires ensuring the home is always clean, well-maintained, and ready for family visits.
Please note: although this is a weekend residence you will not be required to work at weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Housekeeping: Daily cleaning and tidying of all rooms to a high standard.
- Laundry & Ironing: Washing, ironing, and organising wardrobes and linen.
- Family Cooking: Preparing simple, healthy family-style meals (especially for weekends and family visits).
- Household Management:
- Ensuring the home is ready for family arrival.
- Stocking household supplies and groceries.
- Liaising with and supervising contractors, gardeners, and deliveries as required.
- Occasional errands such as shopping, collecting items, or meeting deliveries.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar private household role.
- Confident cook – able to prepare family meals and manage kitchen supplies.
- Good communication and initiative; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Discreet, trustworthy, and family-friendly.
- Car owner/driver essential.
- Must have plenty of common sense and be comfortable liaising with contractors and service providers.
Hours & Schedule:
Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week.
- Typical hours: 9am to 4pm (some flexibility required).
- Occasional weekend support when the family is in residence.
Accommodation:
- 3-bedroom cottage available, furnished or unfurnished.
- Pets, partners, and children welcome.
- All household costs (utilities, council tax, etc.) met by the employer.
