Overview
A mature couple in Manhattan is seeking a companion for the 80-year-old partner. They are looking for a full-time Caregiver overnight shift, Tuesday- Saturday, starting at 5 p.m.- 7 a.m. the following day. The candidate to hire must understand that the principal has dementia. You must have companion experience. Everyone in this household works together to get the job done. People cover different shifts and help when the other staff members are on vacation or take sick days.
Responsibilities
- Being kind, loving, gracious, a good conversationalist, and efficient
- Straightening up the home
- Being really attentive, such as getting water, helping him around, and on nice days, taking him to sit outside
- The principal is hard of hearing, so clear, spoken English is required
- Taking the principal to bed and restroom
- Helping the principal into pajamas and help feeding
- Making the bed
- Help fold laundry; help others in the household. Everyone pitches in and helps each other
Qualifications
- Must have elderly care on your resume
- Someone who has confidence, attention to detail, and empathy
- Experience with this situation is necessary
- Comfortable in an environment where you must navigate difficult things whilst remaining pleasant and empathetic
