Overview
A warm family in Darien, Connecticut is seeking a loving Nanny/Family Assistant for their sweet 18 month old son. The family may eventually relocate to Greenwich, but the schedule and responsibilities are expected to remain the same following a move. Mom is a stay-at-home parent, while Dad works in New York City. The family describes their home as safe, warm, loving, and casual and is looking for someone who will work collaboratively with Mom while also being comfortable caring for their son independently.
Their son is a sweet, smiley, curious, and bright toddler who loves playing and reading. His days typically include a class, free play, playground time, outings or errands. The family does not use screen time and takes an affectionate, hands-on approach to parenting, with gentle guidance rather than a severe or overly disciplinary style.
This is a blended Nanny/Family Assistant position, with approximately 65% of the role focused on childcare and 35% on household support. The family would love someone who is highly engaged with their son; playing with him, reading, getting on his level, attending classes and outings, and closely supervising him, while naturally transitioning to family assistant responsibilities when Mom is spending time with him.
The ideal candidate is calm, but affectionate and genuinely loves children. The family prefers someone who is comfortable taking direction and following their lead while still offering thoughtful suggestions and proactively raising any safety concerns. They especially value a nanny who is hands-on rather than sitting on the sidelines during classes, playground visits, and activities.
