Live-Out Housekeeper
Location: Cascais, Portugal
Salary: €1,500 net per month, paid over 14 salary payments per year
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm, plus a rotational Saturday morning (approx. 6:30/7:00am – 11:00am), alternating with the other housekeeper. Flexibility required when the family are in residence.
Our clients are seeking an experienced, reliable and flexible Housekeeper to join their busy private household in Cascais.
The family consists of two Principals, their 14-year-old daughter and two friendly dogs, one large and one small. The Housekeeper will work alongside an existing housekeeper (6:30am – 3:00pm) and a chef, who works in the afternoons. The family entertain regularly and often have guests staying.
The successful candidate will be warm, professional and adaptable, comfortable in a busy household with a flexible routine. Discretion and a love of dogs are essential. Time off is given when the family travel, usually during the summer months and the Christmas period, and annual leave is provided in line with Portuguese law.
Duties to include, but are not limited to:
- General housekeeping to a high standard
- Laundry and ironing
- Preparing guest rooms ahead of visitors
- School pick-ups for the Principals’ daughter and drop-offs to extracurricular activities
- Occasional ad hoc errands
- Preparing a simple, healthy breakfast (e.g. eggs, yoghurt) on rotational Saturday mornings
- Liaising with the wider household team to ensure smooth daily operations
Candidate Requirements:
- Fluent Portuguese and English (essential)
- Confident, licensed driver (essential), family car provided if needed
- Previous experience as a Housekeeper in a private household
- Comfortable and friendly around dogs (one large, one small)
- Clean police record / DBS check (essential)
- Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust hours when the family are in residence
- Discreet, organised and proactive, with a positive, can-do attitude
