San Francisco Bay Area | South Park, Pacific Heights & Atherton | Local Candidates Only
The Household: We are seeking a thoughtful, highly capable private chef to support a young professional couple across three Bay Area residences. The clients lead active, professionally demanding lives and view food as an important investment in health, performance, and longevity.
The ideal candidate is a chef who cooks with intention, bringing a genuine understanding of nutrition, ingredient quality, seasonality, and the relationship between food and well-being. Beyond preparing exceptional meals, they should be curious about how food can nourish, energize, and support the way people feel and live.
This is a hands-on role encompassing menu development, cooking, sourcing, and nutritional planning. The household values discretion, autonomy, and clear, efficient communication.
- Key Responsibilities: Culinary Direction & Nutrition: Prepare high-quality breakfasts, lunches, and dinners approximately three days per week.
- Develop seasonal menus centered on nutrient-dense ingredients, balanced nutrition, and exceptional flavor.
- Plan menus, source ingredients, and manage household food inventory.
- Bring a strong repertoire of Asian cuisines, particularly Sichuan, alongside thoughtful, health-conscious cooking.
- Support individual preferences, including no seafood for one member of the household.
- Accommodate nutritional goals, including macro tracking when requested.
- Maintain an organized kitchen and complete cooking-related cleanup.
- Travel & Entertaining: Occasionally travel with the household to Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, New York, and other destinations.
- When practical, travel ahead to prepare the kitchen, source ingredients, and establish meals.
- Private accommodations provided for overnight travel.
- Support intimate dinners and larger private events.
- Maintain a trusted network of culinary and event-support professionals when additional staffing is needed.
- Working Style & Client Care: Bring warmth, emotional intelligence, and genuine investment in the clients' well-being.
- Communicate briefly, clearly, and efficiently.
- Work closely with the clients during onboarding to understand their preferences, routines, and culinary standards.
- Develop increasing autonomy and ownership as the relationship evolves.
- Exercise sound judgment, anticipate needs, and offer solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality across all household, family, and travel matters.
- Never photograph, post about, or disclose information about the household or clients.
- Our principals hire us. But we adopt them. We look for professionals who genuinely care about the people they serve and understand that exceptional private service is built on trust, consistency, and care. Ideal Background: Elite culinary training and/or substantial professional culinary experience.
- Private household, Michelin-level, luxury hospitality, yacht, private aviation, or high-end private dining experience.
- Strong Asian culinary expertise, particularly Sichuan.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in nutrition-focused cooking, wellness, and health-conscious menu development.
- Knowledge of seasonal sourcing, ingredient quality, and balanced meal composition.
- Exceptional organization, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Warm, low-ego, and highly professional working style.
- Comfortable working independently and building a lasting relationship with the household.
