Private Housekeeper, Laundress & Wardrobe Manager
Part-Time or Full - Time | San Francisco Bay Area | South Park, Pacific Heights, Atherton
We are seeking a capable, thoughtful and detail-oriented household professional to care for three private residences in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position combines household upkeep, laundry and garment care, wardrobe organization, travel preparation and light household assistance.
The ideal candidate takes genuine pride in maintaining beautiful, well-organized homes and understands the importance of caring for clothing, personal belongings and household environments to a high standard.
This is a hands-on role within a small, private household. The clients value reliability, discretion, initiative and thoughtful attention to detail. We are looking for someone interested in building a long-term relationship with the household, with the opportunity for responsibilities to evolve based on their strengths and experience.
Key Responsibilities
Household Care & Property Upkeep
- Maintain the general presentation, cleanliness and organization of three private residences.
- Visit the Atherton and Pacific Heights homes once weekly, at most, to complete routine household tasks and prepare each residence for upcoming stays.
- Monitor and replenish groceries, bottled water, toiletries and household supplies.
- Receive, unpack and organize deliveries.
- Water plants at the Pacific Heights residence.
- Retrieve garbage and recycling bins at the Atherton residence.
- Identify and communicate household maintenance needs.
- Occasionally transport household items between residences.
- Assist with light household organization and home preservation.
Laundry & Luxury Garment Care
- Manage routine household laundry, including washing, drying, folding and putting away clothing and linens.
- Care for delicate fabrics, including cashmere, silk, linen and wool.
- Handle couture and designer clothing with appropriate care.
- Perform hand washing, air drying, steaming, pressing and ironing as needed.
- Coordinate specialty stain treatment and dry cleaning.
- Assist with shoe care, handbag care and specialty accessory storage.
- Care for bedding, down and feather items, fine linens and table linens.
- Maintain organized laundry areas and ensure clothing and linens are properly stored.
- Coordinate clothing alterations, tailoring, repairs and specialty cleaning.
Wardrobe Management & Travel Preparation
- Maintain wardrobe organization across all three residences.
- Coordinate with a professional wardrobe digitization company to photograph, catalogue and inventory the clients' wardrobes.
- Understand wardrobe distribution across all three residences, ensuring appropriate clothing, footwear and accessories are maintained at each home based on the clients' lifestyle, travel patterns and anticipated needs.
- Manage seasonal wardrobe rotation and closet organization.
- Assist with outfit coordination and travel wardrobe planning.
- Pack and unpack for weekend getaways, sporting trips and other travel.
- Prepare clothing, footwear and personal items according to trip requirements.
- Coordinate designer purchases, returns and exchanges.
- Manage dress and designer clothing rentals, including selections, pickups and returns.
- Identify items for donation, resale or consignment, with client approval.
Entertaining & Household Support
- Assist with setting up and cleaning up after intimate dinners and gatherings with friends.
- Ensure the home is presentable before guests arrive.
- Assist with light entertaining preparation and general household readiness.
- Handle occasional returns, pickups and other household errands.

Ideal Background
- Previous private household or professional housekeeping experience.
- Experience with luxury laundry, fine garment care and wardrobe organization.
- Experience packing and preparing wardrobes for travel.
- Knowledge of specialty fabrics, garment preservation and appropriate clothing storage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining multiple residences is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital wardrobe inventory or wardrobe digitization projects is a plus.
- Comfortable supporting intimate dinners and private gatherings.
- Warm, low-ego, dependable, and discreet.
- Able to work independently and build a long-term relationship with the household.
Schedule & Location
Employment: Part-time or full-time
Residences: South Park, San Francisco; Pacific Heights, San Francisco; Atherton, California.
Typical Weekly Schedule:
Wednesday | 1:30–5:00 p.m.
- Travel to Atherton residence.
- Retrieve garbage and recycling bins.
- Complete light laundry when needed following weekend visits.
- Receive and unpack deliveries.
- Check household supplies, groceries and general readiness.
Friday | 1:30–4:00 p.m.
- Travel to Pacific Heights residence.
- Water plants.
- Complete light laundry when needed.
- Receive and unpack deliveries.
- Check household supplies and general readiness.
Additional Responsibilities | As Needed
- Packing and unpacking for weekend trips and sporting travel.
- Bringing items between residences.
- Dry-cleaning pickups and drop-offs.
- Returns and occasional errands.
- Preparing for and cleaning up after private dinners and gatherings.
The schedule may occasionally shift depending on travel, household use and upcoming events.
Compensation
- Base Salary: 75K- 90K commensurate with experience
- 1–5% discretionary bonus, benefits stipen/PTO, holidays, mileage reimbursement
