Overview
A kind and welcoming family in Park Slope is seeking a full-time family assistant to support their household and care for their two energetic and sweet boys (ages 7 and 9). This role offers a nice balance between household management and after-school childcare. They’re looking for someone proactive, organized, and nurturing—someone who’s just as comfortable prepping dinner as they are planning a fun afternoon outing.(The family may be adding a dog in the future, so they’d love someone who is animal-friendly and happy to help with pet care if needed.)
Schedule: 35 hrs+ depending on the candidate's needs and flexibility
- 4 days/week: 11:30am–6:30pm
- 1 day/week: 2:30pm–9:30pm(Exact days TBD, but flexibility is appreciated)
Responsibilities
Nanny Duties:
- Create a safe, engaging, and loving environment for the children
- School pick-ups and taking to extracurricular activities
- Assist with homework and after-school routines
- Plan fun, age-appropriate activities, outings, and playdates
- Manage children’s laundry and help maintain clean, organized spaces
- Encourage independence and support age-appropriate skills
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks
Family Assistant Duties:
- Plan and prepare simple, healthy family dinners (no allergies or dietary restrictions)
- Maintain home organization systems
- Manage family calendar
- Run errands and handle grocery shopping
- Keep household stocked with essential items
- Manage vendors and assist with holiday or event planning
- Schedule and oversee children's appointments
- Step in wherever needed to keep things running smoothly
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional nanny of Family Assistant experience
- Experience working with active, school-aged children (ideally two boys!)
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable
- Highly organized, trustworthy, and responsible
- Comfortable navigating a 4-story home and staying active throughout the day
- College degree or background in early childhood education preferred
Requirements
- Legal to work in the U.S.
- CPR & First Aid certified
- Fully vaccinated
- Flexible and open to occasional schedule changes
Salary and Benefits
- $35–$40/hour, depending on experience
- 2 weeks paid vacation
- 3–5 paid sick days
