Overview
Professional and welcoming Highbury/Islington-based parents seek a fabulous live-out nanny/PA for their 2 girls aged 2-yrs and 4-yrs. During term-time, the schedule is 3 days per week, from 8am-7pm, while during school holidays the schedule changes to Monday through Friday, 8am-7pm. From September 2026 the term-time schedule will change to Monday through Friday, 1-7pm, while school holidays will remain the same. The family do travel reasonably regularly during the holiday periods, and don't usually take the nanny with them.
Responsibilities
This is a position for a professional and knowledgeable nanny who brings a calm and confident approach and, ideally, is familiar with the Pikler approach or, at the very least, respectful care that encourages independence. Responsibilities will include:
- All aspects of children's care, to include general nursery duties
- Nursery and school drop offs and pick ups
- Creating an engaging and stimulating environment that promotes healthy development and aligns with the parents' preferences
- Keeping the children's areas tidy and organised, and keeping on top of their laundry and ironing
- Planning developmentally appropriate activities and outings
- Being aware of developmental and behavioural milestones, actively working with the whole family to ensure their social, emotional and physical well-being is a priority
- Bringing a positive, flexible and cheerful demeanour to the home
- Preparing fresh, healthy meals for the children
- Assistant style duties for the children - organising parties and gifts, liaising with the school/nursery when required, wardrobe management, booking appointments and activities etc
- Babysitting once per month, ideally, as well as occasional proxy parenting (for up to 4-5 days at a time, likely a couple of times per year)
Requirements
- Excellent communicator and a professional demeanour
- Comfortable with Mum being around and involved
- Skilled at reading the room and integrating seamlessly into a household
- Calm, kind and nurturing personality with a pitch-in mentality
- Able to observe, encourage and engage in respectful interactions with the children and the household in general
- Familiarity with the Pikler approach
- Hands on and resourceful but able to recognise when to give the family space and privacy
- Experience with a similar age is essential and longevity in previous roles is preferred
- Sterling, verifiable references
- Fantastic work-ethic, motivated and dedicated, and full of initiative
- Fun and friendly, able to ensure a truly nurturing and loving environment around the girls
- Previous experience in a professional childcare/nursery setting preferred
