Overview
A warm and welcoming family is seeking an experienced Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) to support them with their first child, a baby boy due June 12th, born via surrogate in Seattle, WA. The family requests that the two weeks before the due date be reserved, with an initial 1–2-week stay in Seattle before they can travel back to NYC with their new baby.
The position will run for approximately three months, with the possibility of extension. During the initial Seattle stay, the family is seeking a 20/7 coverage schedule until they return to NY. Once in the city, the schedule will consist of 12-hour overnight shifts. The role is Monday through Friday, 9pm to 9am.
The family is in the process of moving, and accommodations have not yet been fully finalized in either Seattle or New York. The ideal candidate will be polite, professional, calm, and highly experienced, with a strong understanding of newborn care and sleep conditioning. There are no pets in the home.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of attentive and nurturing newborn care
- Establishing and supporting healthy sleep habits and sleep conditioning
- Feeding support, including bottle preparation, cleaning, and sanitizing
- Diapering and maintaining proper hygiene
- Monitoring the baby’s health, behavior, and development
- Maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive environment
- Baby-related laundry and organization
- Cleaning and sanitizing bottles, pump parts, and baby items
- Keeping the baby’s environment clean and orderly
- Supporting parents with education, guidance, and routine development
- Communicating clearly with parents regarding sleep, feeding, and daily observations
- Carrying out parents’ preferences and adapting as needed
- Providing recommendations based on best practices and professional experience
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of professional newborn care experience
- Calm, gentle, and nurturing presence
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with parents
- Intuitive, thoughtful, and confident working with newborns
- Knowledge of infant safety, sleep conditioning, and best practices
- Professional, patient, and discreet
- Strong English language skills
- Previous medical or clinical background is a plus, but not required
Requirements
- At least five years of experience as a Newborn Care Specialist
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Up-to-date childhood-related vaccinations (COVID and flu not required)
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to commit to the full three-month contract
- Availability to reserve two weeks prior to the due date
- Willingness to travel to Seattle for the birth period
- Ability to commute under one hour when live-out
Salary and Benefits
- $40–$75 per hour, depending on experience ($32,000-$66,000 for 3 month contract)
- Live-out while not on shift
