Overview
A kind, hardworking, and conscientious housekeeper / laundress is sought to join a warm, respectful private household working for a busy couple in West Village, NYC. This role is designed to provide meaningful support to the couple and work side-by-side with the couple's long-standing housekeeper, who has been with the family for over a decade.
Rather than creating a senior/junior hierarchy, the goal is to find a true teammate, and they are looking for someone to work side-by-side with the current housekeeper. The successful candidate will work collaboratively, sharing responsibilities and helping where needed, with the understanding that duties and responsibility can grow organically over time.
The household values a “chip-in” ethos — no egos, mutual respect, flexibility, and genuine care for the home and the people in it. Candidates will report to the Principal and House Manager.
The typical schedule will be Monday–Friday, from 9am-3pm. The current housekeeper typically works 8am–4pm, allowing for staggered coverage and flexibility. The schedule may expand in the future by mutual agreement.
Role Structure & Philosophy
- The household is spread across two floors, with responsibilities clearly but flexibly divided
- The new hire will initially focus on the 6th floor (primary suite level), while the current housekeeper will continue to manage the 7th floor (kitchen, living areas, terrace, cooking, and overseeing vendors)
- Over time, this role has the potential to expand in both responsibility and hours

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Household Care (Primary Focus)
- Daily cleaning and upkeep of the 6th-floor living areas and primary suite
- Maintaining bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and living spaces to a high standard on 6th floor
- Bed making, tidying, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and general organization on 6th floor
Laundry & Wardrobe Care
- Full responsibility for laundry and linen care, including washing, folding, light ironing, and organization
- Caring for delicate fabrics and garments
Errands & Household Support
- Running errands and household-related shopping in person and online
- Assisting with general household tasks as needed
- Driver preferred for errands and future support at the upstate property
Technology & Home Systems Support
- Tech-savvy support for household systems, including:
- Updating and maintaining household iPads
- Ensuring systems such as Sonos and other smart-home technology are functioning properly
- Acting as a tech support resource within the household (particularly where others are less comfortable)
- Able to communicate clearly via Whatsapp messaging and emails
Team Collaboration
- Working harmoniously with current housekeeper as a true teammate
- Assisting one another as needed depending on workload and timing
- Maintaining open, respectful communication
Future & Expanded Responsibilities (Over Time)
- Increased responsibility as efficiency and trust are established
- Potential involvement at the family’s upstate property, particularly during summer months
- (Note: Upstate property has external cleaners and a gardener; this role would provide supplemental support, not replace existing services)
Salary and Benefits
- $50–$55 per hour
- 30 hrs guaranteed every week
- 5 sick days
- PTO - 10 days + Federal holidays
- Discretionary end of year bonus
- Will consider healthcare in due course
