Overview
A warm, busy family in the West Village is seeking a proactive, caring, and highly dependable Nanny/Family Assistant to care for their engaging six-year-old son. The ideal candidate will be confident setting clear, kind boundaries; emotionally attuned; and able to independently manage the child’s after-school routine while providing thoughtful household support.
The family is hoping to find someone for the long term to become a trusted and valued part of their household. They have been fortunate to have a longstanding relationship with their previous Nanny/Family Assistant, who has been with them for over three years, and are eager to find another wonderful candidate seeking a similarly long-term role.
Both parents have demanding city-based roles, so they are seeking a mature, intuitive candidate who is comfortable taking ownership of the afternoon routine and household tasks without requiring close supervision. Their son attends school locally in the West Village and has a full afternoon routine that includes activities and tutoring. The successful candidate will enjoy planning enriching activities, coordinating playdates where appropriate, and helping him feel supported and settled throughout the afternoon and evening. The ideal candidate will also enjoy cooking and be happy to prepare simple, healthy meals in advance for both the child and parents to keep in the refrigerator and enjoy throughout the week.
The position will ideally be approximately 25–30 hours per week, with core hours of 2:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The family can be flexible with the overall schedule for the right candidate. This could include one longer day to allow time for weekly meal preparation, as well as an earlier finish or shorter hours on Fridays. Occasional morning support may also be helpful.
