LIVE-IN ESTATE COUPLE (PRIVATE HOUSEHOLD ROLE)

A unique opportunity has arisen for a proactive, hands-on couple to join a private countryside residence within a discreet estate setting in Oxfordshire.
This is a beautifully maintained secondary residence used by the principal for part of the year, primarily for relaxing stays, social visits with friends, and occasional small-scale entertaining. The environment is calm, well-supported by external contractors, and offers long-term stability for the right couple.
The Role
We are seeking a capable and grounded couple who take real pride in their work and enjoy running a home to a high private household standard. The ideal partnership will be practical, discreet, and genuinely motivated by delivering a consistently high level of service and care.
Partner 1 – House manager / Domestic Leader
- Full House Manager duties and domestic duties of a 4-bedroom main residence, plus additional guest accommodation
- Daily cleaning, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
- Preparing the house for the principal’s visits and ensuring presentation is always immaculate
- Supporting light entertaining and occasional guest stays
- Maintaining extremely high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout
Partner 2 – Maintenance / Estate Support
- Light maintenance and general estate upkeep
- Assisting with outdoor furniture care, basic repairs, and seasonal property tasks
- Supporting external contractors as needed
- Helping with practical estate duties such as fireplace stocking and general readiness of the property
- Ensuring outdoor and indoor areas are well maintained and guest-ready at all times
About the Estate
The property is a secondary residence used approximately 50–60 days per year. It features a main house, guest accommodation, gym, and orangery, set within beautiful private grounds.
The wider estate is supported by external gardening contractors and additional service providers. Entertaining is occasional and typically low-key, including a small number of house weekends and a few larger summer gatherings each year.
Ideal Couple
We are looking for a couple who:
- Have previous experience in private households, estates, yachts, or similar high-standard environments
- Are naturally hands-on, practical, and proactive
- Take pride in maintaining immaculate standards without needing constant direction
- Prefer a stable, long-term role in a private family-style environment
- Work well as a team and are comfortable with quiet periods when the principal is not in residence
Ex-yacht crew or hospitality backgrounds are highly desirable due to their strong service ethic, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Package
- Salaries: DOE
- Separate 2-bedroom live in accomodation, 2-bathroom furnished accommodation provided (utilities included)
- Use of a car
- Standard UK holiday allowance aligned to the principal’s schedule (typically taken during absences including summer and Christmas period)
- Annual discretionary bonus
- Must hold UK Passport or Right to Work in the UK
Start Date
Mid-August to September (flexible for the right couple)
