Overview
A discreet, very private family seeks an extremely professional and experienced full-time Executive Housekeeper. The family would prefer the candidate to be within commuting distance to Amagansett, NY, however they can also offer a live-in set up for the right person. Expect standard full-time hours for most of the year, but significantly increased hours that include weekends and longer days during busier periods (likely summer months and possibly during holiday periods).
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of housekeeping and property care for a high-end private residence, with particular attention to the proper handling of fine finishes, antiques, and decorative objects. The candidate will report directly to the principals and/or the estate manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the residence to five-star standards, including daily, weekly, and seasonal cleaning schedules
- Handle and care for fine finishes: hardwood, stone, marble, gilded surfaces, lacquer, and hand-painted or upholstered furniture, using appropriate products and techniques for each
- Care for antiques, silver, porcelain, and decorative objects, including proper polishing, handling, and storage protocols
- Manage linens: proper laundering, pressing, and rotation of fine bed and table linens
- Oversee inventory of household goods, china, glassware, and supplies
- Assist with online sales of household items (listing, photographing, packing, coordinating shipment) as needed
- Coordinate with vendors (housekeeping suppliers, dry cleaners, restoration specialists) as needed
- Prepare the home for owner arrivals and guest visits, including seasonal opening/closing of the property
- Supervise or coordinate with additional household staff as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as an executive housekeeper or house manager in a high-net-worth private residence
- Demonstrated knowledge of fine finish care (wood, stone, textiles, metals)
- Experience handling valuable antiques and collectibles
- Computer savvy; comfortable with email, basic online listing platforms, and household management apps
- Fluent English speaker
- Even-tempered, open to constructive feedback, and professional under pressure
- Willing and able to travel within the U.S. during the off-season
- Impressive and verifiable references
- Valid, clean driver's license and a confident driver
- Flexibility for seasonal Hamptons schedule (heavier summer presence)
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Must be able to flex with the schedule - working longer days and weekends over busier periods, shorter days during quieter times
Salary and Benefits
- From $50-$65/hr, depending on experience
