Overview
A family based in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced Newborn Care Specialist to provide overnight support following the arrival of their newborn ~November 11th (this is their second child). The schedule will be 4 nights per week (preferably Sunday/ Monday/ Tuesday and Thursday) from 8pm-8am, for a a minimum of 4 weeks. No travel will be required.
The family is looking for someone who can provide experienced, nurturing overnight care while helping establish a consistent feeding and sleep routine as the baby grows.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and nurturing overnight care for the newborn
- Manage overnight feeds, diaper changes, burping, settling and soothing
- Support the baby in developing a consistent feeding and sleep routine
- Help establish healthy sleep habits in an age-appropriate manner
- Maintain a calm, safe and comfortable environment for the baby overnight
- Keep parents informed about overnight feeds, sleep patterns and any notable changes
- Follow the parents’ preferences and approach to newborn care
- Provide practical guidance and reassurance to the parents during the early newborn stage
- Maintain a clean and organized nursery and baby-care area
- Work independently and confidently throughout overnight shifts
Qualifications
- Previous professional night nanny experience is required
- Demonstrable experience caring for newborns
- Strong knowledge of newborn feeding, sleep and settling
- Warm, nurturing and attentive approach
- Calm and confident handling of newborns, particularly during overnight hours
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with the parents
- Newborn Care Specialist training or relevant certifications
Requirements
- Up-to-date standard vaccinations, including Flu, MMR, Tdap and RSV
- Commitment to the agreed 4-night-per-week schedule and 4-week contract
- Professional references required
- Prior night NCS experience is essential
- Must be comfortable working in a private family home
- No travel is required for this position
