Job Description
A lovely, professional family based in Hampstead are seeking an experienced, warm and proactive nanny to join their fully staffed household.
The family has three children aged 9, 12 and 15. During term time, the two older children attend boarding school, meaning the role will primarily focus on their youngest daughter, aged 9.
Responsibilities will include managing the school routine, supporting homework and school projects, arranging playdates and extracurricular activities, and ensuring the youngest child enjoys a balanced mix of learning, creativity, fun and downtime. During the school holidays, the nanny will care for all three children, balancing their different schedules, interests and needs.
The family are particularly keen to find someone loving, caring, positive and educationally focused, who will take a genuine interest in the children’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing and personal development. The ideal candidate will be naturally engaging and enthusiastic, encouraging curiosity, confidence and independence while providing a reassuring and supportive presence.
The household is fully staffed, including a private chef and housekeeper, so the nanny will not be responsible for cooking or general household cleaning. This will allow them to focus on the children and their development, alongside managing their schedules, belongings and administration. However, it is the nanny’s responsibility to ensure the children’s bedrooms and playroom are tidy, organised and well maintained.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who genuinely loves working with children and takes pride in creating a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment where they can thrive.
Candidate Requirements:
- Warm, loving and genuinely caring, with a natural ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children.
- Educationally focused, with a genuine enthusiasm for supporting learning, academic development and intellectual curiosity.
- Positive, upbeat and engaging, bringing a sense of fun and enthusiasm to everyday life.
- Experienced with school-aged children and confident adapting their approach to different ages and personalities.
- Emotionally intelligent, patient and nurturing, while able to establish appropriate boundaries and encourage independence.
- Proactive, organised and capable of anticipating the children’s needs without constant direction.
- Discreet, professional and comfortable working within a fully staffed household.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a calm and solutions-focused approach.
- A confident driver would be a significant advantage.
Role Responsibilities:
- Managing school drop-offs and pick-ups during term time, ensuring the youngest child is organised and prepared for her day.
- Supporting homework, literacy, school projects and revision, while fostering a genuine love of learning.
- Taking an active interest in the children’s education, friendships, interests and emotional wellbeing.
- Planning creative, stimulating and age-appropriate activities, outings and playdates.
- Encouraging good manners, confidence, independence and everyday life skills.
- Coordinating the children’s schedules, including appointments, extracurricular clubs, school commitments and social arrangements.
- Keeping bedrooms and playrooms tidy and organised.
- Overseeing the children’s wardrobes, including purchasing clothing, managing seasonal changes and ensuring items are labelled.
- Purchasing birthday and Christmas presents and managing any necessary returns or exchanges.
- Packing and preparing the children’s belongings for family holidays, boarding school and trips.
- Providing attentive, engaging care for all three children during school holidays, with activities tailored to their individual ages and personalities.
- Maintaining clear, positive communication with the parents about the children’s routines, activities and needs.
Benefits:
- Salary of £45,000-£60,000, depending on experience.
- Private en-suite accommodation provided.
- Opportunity to work within a fully staffed household, including a private chef and housekeeper.
- Some downtime during the school day during term time.
- Opportunity to travel with the family.
