Overview
Expectant parents in the West Village of NYC, are seeking a part-time, off-site chef. This is a new role and the schedule will be a guaranteed 20-25 hours per week, with the potential for this to expand in due course, as their family grows. Candidates should be able to grocery shop for/ prep (in an off-site capacity) daily meals (dinner and the next day’s lunch) 4 x per week for 2 x adults. The expectation is that a courier service will deliver these meals in containers 3 x per week, and that the candidate will do so 1 x per week in person when they also deliver groceries/ stock the pantry. The family is expecting a baby this month, so the scope of the role will evolve slightly to reflect this 4-6 months down the line.
Candidates will also be expected to manage occasional dinners (likely once every 2-3 months) for up to 10 people, as well as manage all grocery shopping and keep the fridge/ pantry tidy and stocked. The family is seeking a candidate who is looking to commit in a long-term capacity and grow with their family. There are no allergies in the home.
Responsibilities
- Prepping a variety of simple, fresh, and healthy lunches (e.g. a salad and protein, energy balls etc.) and dinners (the family enjoys a Mediterranean diet) for the family 4 days per week.
- Manage occasional dinners (likely once every 2-3 months) for up to 10 people
- Manage all grocery shopping and keep the fridge/ pantry tidy and stocked.
- Source and purchase high-quality, local fresh, and organic produce.
- Keep a clean and tidy kitchen, and be mindful of the limited space available to prep food from scratch at the family’s home.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years’ experience working in a similar role
- Experience preparing food off-site in a kitchen/ space that adheres to the relevant food service permit requirements
- Candidates who are experienced with helping busy working parents make healthier, high-quality (but not necessarily gourmet/ adventurous) food choices will thrive in this role.
Requirements
- US passport, Green Card, or EAC
- Prior experience working in a similar capacity
- Must be able to prepare food off-site in a kitchen/ space that adheres to the relevant food service permit requirements
Salary and Benefits
- $50-$60++ per hour (DOE)
