Live-in or Live-out Housekeeper / Nanny
Location: Windermere, UK
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 gross per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week (with flexibility for pre-planned additional hours)
Days: 5 days per week | 2 consecutive days off
Start Date: ASAP
Accommodation: Live-out role. Temporary live-in accommodation may be available if relocating (private bedroom & bathroom with full board).
Overview
A warm, well-organised family based in Windermere is seeking a caring, reliable, and flexible Housekeeper / Nanny to support the household and assist the mother with two young children (a 2-year-old and a new-born).
The family also has a friendly Labrador retriever, so the successful candidate must be comfortable around dogs. This role is ideal for someone nurturing, proactive, and calm under pressure, with prior childcare and housekeeping experience.
Key Responsibilities Household Support
- General household cleaning and tidying (living areas, kitchen, bedrooms, etc.)
- Laundry and ironing for the family
- Meal preparation and occasional cooking for the family or children
- Restocking household essentials and running small errands
- Keeping the home organised, presentable, and family-ready at all times
Childcare Support
- Assisting the mother with daily routines, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and bedtime
- Providing occasional sole charge of one or both children when required
- Entertaining, playing with, and supervising the children in a safe and stimulating manner
- Supporting nursery runs and occasional babysitting (with notice)
- Flexibility to accompany the family on holidays, assisting with childcare and routines while away, or house-sitting and caring for the dog when the family travels
General
- Being a positive, discreet, and trustworthy presence within the household
- Flexibility to support family routines during busier periods or when the father is travelling
- Occasional care of the family’s Labrador (short walks or feeding when needed)
Hours of Work
- 40 hours per week
- Additional hours for pre-planned events may be required; these will be paid or offered as time off in lieu
- Monthly rota provided at least one month in advance
- Occasional evening babysitting may be requested with notice
- Travel and accommodation fully covered when accompanying the family on holiday
Days Off
- Two full days off per week
- Schedule agreed monthly in line with the family calendar
Salary & Benefits
- £35,000-£40,000 gross per annum (depending on experience)
- 28 days paid annual leave (including bank holidays)

Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a nanny, au pair, or housekeeper
- Excellent references and enhanced DBS
- Confident driver
- Fluent English (additional European languages a plus)
- Warm, patient, organised, and calm under pressure
- Comfortable with children and dogs
- Non-smoker
