Overview
A warm, busy family of five in the Mid-Peninsula area of San Francisco, CA, is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and personable Family Assistant / Backup Nanny to support their household. This is a full-time, long-term position that combines family assistantresponsibilities with backup nanny support.The role is ideal for a candidate interested in a variety of tasks who values being a part of a team, working with children, and is interested in developing their career path toward estate management.
Schedule Overview
The household operates on a split shared schedule. Two Family Assistants work as a team to ensure seamless coverage.
- When the ROTA nanny is on shift:Both Family Assistants work 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- When the ROTA nanny is off shift:The two-Family Assistants split coverage between early and late shifts.

Flexibility is required, including occasional weekend work or adjusted hours during the week to offset weekend coverage. Some travel may be involved.
Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
Family Assistant (Primary Focus)
- Household organization and inventory management
- Purchasing household supplies and gifts; coordinating exchanges and returns
- Supporting family events and managing children’s calendars
- Assisting the Estate Manager with vendors, projects, décor coordination, and light staffing oversight
- Stepping in to support household operations when the Estate Manager is off-site
- Maintaining a streamlined vendor approach and assisting with special projects as needed
- Assist with party planning
- Travel as requested
- Ad hoc tasks
Backup Nanny/Childcare Support
- Morning support during heavier childcare weeks, including breakfast and lunch preparation and getting children ready for school (parents handle school drop-off)
- Afternoon support during later shifts, including school and activity pick-ups, homework supervision, bath time, dinner, and bedtime routines
- Providing childcare coverage when the full-time nanny is unavailable
- Confidently managing three children, ages 6–11, with a calm, capable presence
Qualifications
- Proactive team player who takes pride in their work and has a service mindset
- Calm under pressure: able to move fluidly through the day without becoming overwhelmed
- Warm, reliable, proactive, and highly organized – always 2 steps ahead
- Positive, solutions-oriented, self-starter who reads the room well and knows when to step in/out
- Comfortable in a semi-formal, fully staffed household with strong respect for privacy and discretion
- Professional and thoughtful
- Has a plan A, a plan B, and the ability to pivot
- Resourceful and confident
Requirements
- A 4-year college degree and 5 years of relevant experience, such as nannying, teaching, or executive assistant
- Tech-savvy (Google Suite)
- Strong swimmer – The family has a pool
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (nanny car provided for child transport)
- Trustline Certified or willing to become Trustline Certified
- CPR Certified
- Must be legal to work in the U.S. and have a clean background check
Salary and Benefits
The family is offering $140,000+ DOE, full health benefits, 401(k) with employer match after 6 months, paid sick leave, and vacation
