Overview
A warm and professional family based in Chevy Chase, Maryland is seeking an energetic and experienced ROTA Family Assistant to join their household team. The family has 3 children, ages 5, 3, and a newborn, and splits their time between their home in the DC Metro area and their property in the Hamptons, with occasional domestic and international travel throughout the year. This is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off live-in ROTA position ideal for someone who thrives in an active, multi-location household and is genuinely excited about building a real long-term connection with a family who deeply values their staff and longevity.
This family is experienced with household staffing and knows exactly what they are looking for. The right candidate will understand that their role is split equally between keeping up with active children and keeping the household always running smoothly and presentably. The ideal person for this role should be highly energetic, fun, and possess knowledge about very play-based educational learning systems. This position needs to be filled urgently with a hard deadline of end of April 2026. Fly in, fly out candidates from the East Coast within approximately 3 hours are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Providing attentive, engaged, and genuinely fun care for 3 children
- Ability to read the room, and know how to fade into the background when the parents are actively present with the children
- Driving and transporting the children to and from school, appointments, playdates, and other activities
- Wiping down car seats and vacuuming the vehicle after school and activity pickups
- Ability to run errands and handle small errands for the family (i.e. dry cleaning, package drop offs, car washes, etc.)
- Keeping up physically with active, sports-loving children and engaging them through play, basketball, outdoor activities, and free play
- Maintaining and resetting the household between activities including children’s bedding, laundry, playroom and bedroom organization, dishes, kitchen maintenance, and toy organization
- Keeping the household tidy, organized, and presentable at all times as the family entertains frequently in the Hamptons
- Assisting with adult household tasks including making beds and adult laundry as needed depending on housekeeping team coverage
- Providing beach and outdoor activity support when the family needs someone to stay back and manage gear, reset the setup, or supervise
- Traveling seamlessly between Chevy Chase, the Hamptons, and domestic and international destinations as part of the rotation
- Operating with full independence and intuitive initiative during the rotation without needing to be directed on what needs to be done
- Maintaining professionalism and discretion as part of a larger, established household staff team
Qualifications
- Physically active
- Knowledge of play-based educational systems
- Intuitive light housekeeping sensibility. Must understand and embrace the maintaining and resetting role without being asked
- Warm, calm, and professional presence within a multi-staff household environment
- Comfortable with the live-in ROTA lifestyle and the demands of a multi-location household
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- Reliable, punctual, and detail oriented
- Willingness to commit long-term, preferably 3 years or more
Requirements
- Energetic and genuinely fun demeanor
- 5 plus years of professional nanny or family assistant experience required
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Driving required. Must have a clean driving record.
- Valid passport required.
- Must be fully comfortable with live-in arrangements during rotation (shared staff accommodations in Maryland,Mostly private accommodations in the Hamptons and during travel)
- Swimming required
- Must be available to travel between Chevy Chase and the Hamptons within the same rotation as the family’s schedule shifts
- Must understand that all travel during rotation is considered part of the shift.
- Fly in, fly out candidates from the East Coast within approximately 3 hours are welcome to apply
- Additional language skills are a strong plus
- Montessori or similar childcare certifications are a plus
- Must be available to start as soon as possible
Salary and Benefits
- $115,000 per year
- $150 monthly healthcare stipend
- 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off ROTA schedule with built-in time off
- Fly-in, fly-out arrangements for out of state candidates
