Overview
A kind and busy family in Riverside, CT is seeking an additional nanny to join their household. The family has three children (ages 2 to 7) and is expecting a fourth child. The nannies will work collaboratively to provide seamless daytime childcare coverage and household support. This role is highly team-oriented and requires exceptional communication, flexibility, and partnership with the parents and the other staff.
This is a screen-free household. The children are active, curious, and engaged in a variety of activities and interests. The family values respect, emotional regulation, consistency, and clear, firm boundaries.
The home is warm and informal in tone but places a high value on professionalism, reliability, initiative, and strong communication. The family also employs a full-time housekeeper.
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, collaborative, comfortable managing multiple children (including an infant), and confident balancing childcare, scheduling, and child-related household responsibilities. Candidates who enjoy creating enriching learning opportunities and fostering independence will thrive in this role.
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (with some flexibility)
- Minimal travel required
- Occasional overnights may be needed
Responsibilities
- Partner with the existing nanny to provide team-based care for four children
- Confidently manage up to three children independently for short periods
- Provide attentive care for an infant, toddler, preschooler, and school-aged children
- Manage school drop-offs and pick-ups
- Coordinate and transport children to after-school activities
- Support preschool attendance and transitions for the 2-year-old
- Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities and maintain daily structure
- Provide full infant care, including feeding, diapering, nap schedules, bottle preparation, toy sanitization, and developmental support
- Manage all child-related household tasks
- Complete laundry and ironing for all four children
- Prepare healthy, homemade meals and snacks focused on teaching positive eating habits
- Coordinate children's schedules, activity registrations, and calendars
- Arrange and manage playdates
- Assist with homework and school projects
- Create educational opportunities through hands-on learning, science experiments, nature exploration, reading, and other age-appropriate academic support
- Supervise children safely in and around the family pool
- Drive children to and from school, activities, appointments, and playdates
- Help children develop emotional regulation, social skills, and healthy conflict-resolution strategies
- Maintain a calm, positive presence while setting appropriate boundaries and expectations
- Communicate proactively with parents and collaborate with household staff
- Support the overall flow and success of the household as needed
School and activity schedules provide dedicated time during the day to complete child-related responsibilities and organizational tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience caring for infants, toddlers, and elementary-aged children
- Experience managing multiple children simultaneously
- Comfortable working as part of a collaborative two-nanny team
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate expectations
- Warm, engaging, and nurturing while remaining confident in setting boundaries
- Highly organized and proactive
- Comfortable with long workdays and a dynamic household environment
- Strong swimmer with experience supervising children around water
- Confident and safe driver
- Emotionally intelligent with strong situational awareness and communication skills
- Passion for creating enriching educational experiences and encouraging curiosity
- Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus, but not required
- Experience working as a teacher would be a major bonus to the family
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- CPR certified
- Fully vaccinated
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time nanny experience
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred (especially in Early Childhood Education or a related field)
- Non-smoker
- Strong swimmer and comfortable supervising around water
Salary and Benefits
- $130,000–$150,000 annual compensation, depending on experience
- W-2 employment
- Guaranteed hours
- 2 weeks PTO (1 week coordinated with the family's schedule)
- 5 paid sick days
