Overview and Opportunity
A private family in New York City is seeking a warm, proactive and adaptable Weekend Nanny & Family Assistant to support their household from Friday morning through Sunday evening.
The family has two children, aged 8 years and 18 months, with a newborn on the way. The successful candidate will work alongside the family’s baby nurse, helping ensure the children’s needs are met and the household runs smoothly throughout the weekend.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is flexible, practical, and happy to pitch in wherever needed. The family is looking for a genuine team player who can adapt to changing priorities and provide reliable, thoughtful support without being overly rigid about responsibilities.
Role Responsibilities
- Providing attentive care and support for the children throughout the weekend
- Preparing simple meals and snacks for the children and family as required
- Tidying up after the children and keeping their spaces organised
- Supporting the 8-year-old with homework and school-related activities
- Accompanying the children to activities and outings when needed
- Helping organise the household and prepare for the week ahead
- Supporting daily routines and helping wherever needed
- Working collaboratively with the baby nurse to ensure the smooth running of the household
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience caring for both toddlers and school-aged children
- A warm, caring and responsible approach to childcare
- A flexible, proactive and hands-on attitude
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence preparing simple family meals
- A genuine team-player mentality and willingness to help wherever needed
- The ability to work collaboratively with other household staff
- A calm, adaptable and positive approach in a busy family environment
- Discretion and an understanding of working within a private household
