Sous Chef / Assistant Chef – Private Estate - Cheshire
(Must hold US Passport or RTW in UK)
Salary: £40,000+ DOE
Accommodation: Live-in accommodation provided
Hours: 40-hour contract (You will rarely go over this)
We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Sous Chef / Assistant Chef to join a beautiful private estate in Cheshire, working alongside an experienced Head Chef as part of a lovely, established household team.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a chef looking to step away from the demanding hours of a traditional restaurant kitchen and enjoy a better work-life balance, without compromising on the quality of food they're producing. The household is generally fairly quiet, with a varied schedule and occasional dinner parties and private events. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking, has a passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and would love the opportunity to develop their career within a prestigious private household.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Head Chef to prepare fresh, seasonal menus for daily dining and occasional private events.
- Assisting with menu planning, food preparation and presentation to an exceptional standard.
- Catering for different dietary requirements and preferences.
- Supporting with ordering, stock management and maintaining excellent kitchen standards.
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence when required.
- Occasionally travelling to other UK residences to support the wider household.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience witing a private house would be beneficial
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or similar within a high-quality kitchen
- A genuine passion for food, with strong cooking skills and excellent attention to detail.
- A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn.
- Someone who works well within a small, friendly team.
- Previous private household experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Full UK driving licence required.
