Role: Live-In Dog Companion & Estate Assistant
Location: Surrey
Salary: Circa £60,000 per year, all bills included
Work Schedule: Full-time, Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 6pm (with flexibility when the family are in residence)
Accommodation: Live-in cottage on the estate; can accommodate a partner and pets

Overview and Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable and caring Live-In Dog Companion & Estate Assistant to join a private estate household. This role is centred around providing a consistent presence on the property, supporting the well-being and daily routine of the family dog, and assisting the household team with light support tasks around the estate. The successful candidate will act as a guardian of the home, offering reassurance and attentive oversight of the property when principals are in residence or travelling. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys a calm, structured environment and takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and well-run home.
Job description
Dog Care & Daily Routine
A central part of the role is the day-to-day care and companionship of the family dog.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the dog’s morning and evening routines
- Feeding, grooming, coordination, and ensuring overall well-being
- Monitoring behaviour and health, reporting any concerns
- Maintaining and updating the dog’s daily diary (routine, meals, walks, notable observations)
- Coordinating with vets, groomers and trainers where required
Property Presence & Guardianship
This role provides a reassuring live-in presence on the estate, helping ensure the home runs smoothly and remains well cared for.
Responsibilities include:
- Acting as a trusted guardian of the property
- Maintaining general awareness of the estate and reporting anything requiring attention
- Receiving deliveries and assisting contractors where needed
- Supporting the household team to ensure the property is always welcoming and well presented
Household Support
While this is not a full housekeeping role, the position includes occasional support to the wider household team.
Tasks may include:
- Running errands locally for the household
- Supporting the housekeeping team with ad-hoc requests, laundry skills would be advantageous
- Assisting with light organisational tasks around the home
- Providing occasional support in the permaculture garden or estate grounds when required
- Assisting with small household projects or general estate upkeep
Light Cooking
Occasional light food preparation may be required, including:
- Reheating chef-prepared meals
- Preparing simple dinners or snacks when needed
- kitchen tidying after use
Household Administration
Some light household administration may also form part of the role, including:
- Assisting with simple household organisation tasks
- Supporting small administrative tasks related to the home or estate operations to include data entry in an accounting app
Role Responsibilities
- Manage the family dog’s care, routine, and well-being
- Provide live-in presence and guardianship of the estate
- Assist the household team with errands, organisational tasks, and light support duties
- Support occasional light cooking and kitchen tidying
- Assist with small estate projects, garden work, or general upkeep
- Support household administration, including basic data entry
Candidate Requirements
- Warm, calm and dependable
- Passionate about dogs and animal wellbeing
- Comfortable living on site and acting as a trusted household presence
- Organised and attentive to detail
- Happy to support a variety of tasks around the home and estate
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of a private household environment
- Able to work independently while also supporting the wider household team
- Previous experience in private households, estate roles, dog care, nannying or live-in support roles would be highly advantageous
