Role: Roaming Sous Chef
Locations: Across Hertfordshire sites in Hitchin, Graveley, and Stevenage (4 sites in total)
Salary: £35,000 per annum + tips
Hours: 48 hours per week
Working Pattern: 4-5 days per week, typically Tuesday to Friday/Saturday
Achieve Hospitality are partnering with a Gastropub Group who are looking for a talented and adaptable Roaming Sous Chef to support their kitchen teams across four busy pub sites. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who enjoys variety, thrives in different environments, and takes pride in delivering consistently high standards of food and service.
As a Roaming Sous Chef, you will work closely with their Head Chefs and management teams, providing operational support where needed, covering holidays, assisting during busy trading periods, helping with menu rollouts, and ensuring standards are maintained across all sites.
This role is ideal for an experienced Sous Chef who enjoys leading by example and is looking to develop their skills within a growing independent hospitality business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day operation of kitchens across all four sites.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Assist Head Chefs in managing kitchen teams and service periods.
- Provide leadership and support during staff absences, holidays, and peak trading periods.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures are followed.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, stock takes, and waste management.
- Support menu development and seasonal menu launches.
- Train, mentor, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams to deliver excellent guest experiences.
- Help drive kitchen efficiency while maintaining food quality standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready for the next step.
- Experience working in fresh food kitchens.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different teams and kitchen environments.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Positive attitude with a hands-on approach to leadership.
- Full UK driving licence and access to reliable transport.
