Overview
Elite Household HR is representing a private family on Fisher Island seeking a dedicated educational governess for their two children, ages 9 and 6. This is a governess role, not a nanny role — the family is looking for a true educator who directs learning, cultivates curiosity, and broadens the children's academic and cultural horizons.
The right candidate treats each afternoon as an opportunity to expand two young minds through reading, language, culture, and considered enrichment. This is a premium, long-term placement with a warm, high-standards household.
Responsibilities
- Morning routine: preparing the children and delivering them to school
- After-school collection, homework guidance, and educational support
- Planning and leading enrichment beyond the school syllabus — reading, language, the arts, and cultural exploration
- Coordinating and accompanying the children to extracurricular activities
- Fostering curiosity, structure, and a lifelong love of learning
Requirements
- 5–10 years of dedicated experience as a governess (not general nanny experience)
- A teaching background, degree, or equivalent depth in child development and education
- Russian language a major advantage (not required for an exceptional candidate)
- Genuine warmth and comfort around dogs — the household includes one dog
- Discretion, cultural fluency, and prior experience within private households
- Preference for candidates near Fisher Island / Miami Beach, or within a reasonable commute
- Verifiable long-term references and valid U.S. work authorization
