Role: Christmas Temporary Housekeeper – Live-Out
Location: Berkshire
Salary: £20 – £25 per hour, with a premium available for key festive days
Work Schedule: 7 days per week (Monday – Friday 8.5 hours, Saturday & Sunday 6 hours)
Dates: 21st December 2026 – 3rd January 2027
Overview and Opportunity
A private household is seeking an experienced Temporary Housekeeper to provide exceptional housekeeping and household support throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a luxury private household, five-star hotel or Grade I listed country house, with a strong understanding of maintaining historic properties and caring for expensive fabrics, fixtures and fittings.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is professional, discreet, reliable and confident working independently within a prestigious private residence.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the property to an exceptionally high standard throughout the festive period, whilst also supporting with family events, visitors, household administration, light cooking, vehicles and pet care.
The role will involve working closely with the family and their Chef, assisting with the preparation and smooth running of formal and informal events during the Christmas period.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintaining the household to an exceptional standard, including cleaning, laundry, ironing, bed-making, dusting and polishing
- Caring for luxury linens, fabrics, fixtures and fittings
- Organising cupboards and wardrobes, including packing and unpacking suitcases
- Setting up and clearing down for formal and informal events, including table presentation and guest support
- Liaising with and assisting the family’s Chef, including light cooking and food preparation
- Managing household deliveries, confidential paperwork, stock levels, shopping and errands
- Cleaning and re-fuelling family vehicles as required
- Daily dog walking, feeding, washing and general pet care
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the household throughout the festive period
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Housekeeper within a private household, luxury hotel or high-end property
- Experience working with hotel-standard linens and bed-making
- Strong knowledge of how to safely handle and care for expensive fabrics, fixtures and fittings
- Previous experience working within a Grade I listed country house would be highly advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail and exceptionally high standards of cleanliness
- Experienced in laundry and ironing
- Comfortable supporting with formal events and table presentation
- Professional, discreet and reliable
- Confident working independently and managing a varied workload
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Confident driving 4×4 vehicles
- Comfortable caring for dogs and undertaking daily dog walking
- Flexible and willing to support with household errands and general duties
- Ideally live-out, although live-in may be considered for an exceptional candidate
- Available for the full duration of the assignment
