Overview
A prestigious 4-star historic hotel in County Kildare is seeking a full-time Commis Chef to join its dynamic kitchen team. This role involves assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with food preparation, production, and service across all hotel outlets, ensuring the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organised, and committed to learning and growing in a professional culinary environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare food for all hotel outlets, including breads, pastries, and menu-specific dishes for lunch and dinner services.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the assigned kitchen section under supervision.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP standards and food hygiene regulations.
- Support cost and quality control for incoming and outgoing goods.
- Ensure proper stock rotation and daily monitoring of temperature readings.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, fixtures, and fittings in good working order.
- Follow cleaning schedules, maintain personal hygiene, and adhere to uniform standards.
- Participate in training and maintain a tidy, safe, and organised work environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Commis Chef in a professional kitchen.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, production, and service standards.
- Understanding of HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently under supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to County Kildare.
