We are looking for an experienced maritime leader to join a yacht management company as Director of Yacht Operations based in Southern California, overseeing fleet operations and driving operational excellence across the business. Open to candidates who would be interested in relocation (Package on offer). Must hold a US Passport or Green Card
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position will oversee a diverse fleet of luxury yachts and support the continued growth and development of the operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency, safety, compliance, and client service across the fleet.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Yacht Manager, Fleet Manager, Senior Captain, or an active Captain looking to transition ashore into a senior management role.
Ideally would hold a Master (Yachts <500 GT or <3000 GT), STCW & ENG
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operational management of a fleet of luxury yachts.
- Provide leadership and support to vessel captains and onboard teams.
- Develop and implement operational procedures, systems, and best practices.
- Monitor fleet performance and ensure consistently high operational standards.
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, refits, and technical projects.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant maritime regulations and certification requirements.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and management of crew members.
- Manage operational budgets and monitor expenditure.
- Liaise with owners, captains, contractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
- Provide regular operational updates and reports to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement across all aspects of fleet operations.
- Maintain the company's reputation for delivering a highly personalised and professional service.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in Yacht Management, Fleet Management, Captaincy, or a similar maritime leadership role.
- Strong understanding of yacht operations, maintenance, compliance, and crew management.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and operational projects.
- Relevant maritime qualifications preferred.
- Willingness to travel as required.
