Overview
Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be recruiting for a Junior Sous Chef on behalf of a prestigious luxury country house hotel in Cumbria. This is an excellent opportunity to join an award-winning kitchen, working alongside an accomplished senior team in a property renowned for its exceptional culinary standards. The role is primarily focused on a relaxed, high-quality bistro concept while also supporting the hotel’s acclaimed fine dining operation.
As Junior Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, with a primary focus on the property’s casual dining restaurant. You will support the Senior Sous Chef and Head Chef in delivering consistently high standards, contributing to menu development, mentoring junior chefs and ensuring smooth service across multiple kitchen operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Sous Chef and Head Chef with the daily running of the kitchen.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the property’s bistro restaurant.
- Assist with menu development, seasonal dishes and maintaining exceptional food quality.
- Work across all kitchen sections, supporting both the bistro and fine dining restaurant when required.
- Train, mentor and support junior chefs within the brigade.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety standards.
- Monitor stock rotation, food quality and minimise waste.
- Ensure a clean, organised and efficient kitchen throughout service.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie in a quality-led kitchen.
- Experience within an AA Rosette and/or Michelin-starred environment is highly desirable.
- Passion for seasonal produce and delivering exceptional food.
- Strong understanding of food safety, allergen management and kitchen best practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to lead by example and support the development of junior team members.
- Flexible approach with the confidence to work across multiple kitchen sections.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a genuine passion for hospitality.
